PRISE Foundations in the First Year

Conceptual Foundations

The first year’s activities for the PRISE Research Group engaged researchers in an extensive review of the literature on the high school science teacher professional continuum, which led to the development of a conceptual framework for the project.  The conceptual framework of the project has guided the development of the research instruments found in the PRISE Research Manual and the design of Preliminary Research Analyses

Research Agenda

The proposal to the National Science Foundation specified general guidelines for the research agenda. During the first year of the project, the PRISE Research Agenda was detailed. 

Dane Bozeman and Dr. James McNamara designed a sampling plan for the project that allowed the identification of 50 Texas high schools to represent the 1,333 schools in Texas that provide science courses to high school science students.
